If you are unable to serve due to an injury or chronic medical condition and are at least 65 years old with five years of service, you may be eligible to collect a pension from the Provincial Judges Pension Plan (PJPP). Keep in mind, however, that this pension is not automatic; you must apply. To apply, contact the Chief Justice’s Office. Approval of the Provincial Judges Pension Board and a medical report confirming your disability will be required.

If approved, your pension will be based on the service you would have earned had you worked until age 75 and, provided you remain disabled, will continue for as long as you live. Survivor benefits are payable from a disability pension like any other unreduced or reduced pension.
